Susan Tang is a seasoned professional in the power systems industry. With over two decades of experience, Susan has harnessed her passion for engineering to shape the energy landscape. Susan holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and specialized in power system reliability analysis during her master’s studies at the University of Saskatchewan.

In 2000, Susan embarked on her professional Electrical Engineer career at BC Hydro. Over the years, she held various roles in generation, transmission, distribution, and metering, and her expertise spanned a broad power system spectrum.

As the Regional Distribution Planning Manager and Technical Strategic Principal, Susan is pivotal in charting the course for British Columbia’s electrification. Her responsibilities include crafting distribution plans that align electrification goals with practical strategies and leveraging technologies. Before this role, she led the integration of resources, including supply and demand-side assets, into an integrated resource plan, modernizing the revenue metering system and evaluating DG interconnections.

Susan is also an active participant in industry committees. Her voice resonates in organizations like the PMAPS International Society, IEEE, CIGRE, CEATI, CSA, WECC, and the Society of Decision Professionals, focusing on DG standards, smart metering and smart grid, power market and decision frameworks.
